You want to know 'What's New in WAP?' on your Nokia 8310 - so take a look at some useful features we have defined for you here.

PUSH service message indicator
The phone can receive a service message with a short header and link to a specific WAP service. The types of messages can be selected from an operator or content provider's content to get messages of personal interest.

The phone has a dedicated service inbox, where WAP push messages are stored. This service inbox is found in the Services menu (Menu 12). While online, the service inbox is found under the Options (browser menu). In the service inbox, you can browse received WAP push messages, download and delete them, and view details of the messages.

When a new WAP push message (with priority high or medium) is received, a notification "1 new service message received" is displayed. You can read the message or discard the notification. You can save 10 messages into the service inbox.

WAP push message is automatically removed from the service inbox when expiry time (set by the content provider) is reached.
Please contact your operator or service provider for more information on the message service content.

Direct calling (WTAI Public Library)
With interaction from the WAP browser to the phone, you can make a phone call directly from e.g. the WAP site’s travel guide to book a chalet for the weekend. The WAP page must be designed to support this feature.

Downloadable Calendar (vCal) and Contact (vCard) items
Calendar appointments and business cards can be saved to the phone’s calendar or phonebook. For instance, while browsing you can select a calendar event or a business card to be saved into the phone’s memory.

20 Cookies
They work in the same way like Internet cookies. The server can store a text string on the phone, making it possible for a WAP service to recognise the user from time to time to create a more personal and easier WAP browsing experience. Cookies can be set “on” or “off”. The Nokia 8310 memory has the capacity to store 20 cookies in total. These cookies will be overwritten each time a new cookie is received - starting with the oldest cookie store on the Nokia 8310 phone memory.
